About Me

Hey there! My name is Shivansh, and I’m a level designer based in Bangalore, India.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a passion for creative fields. In school, I’d be more drawn to music, drawing, and acting, while others played sports. Even in college, I was a part of the photography and board game clubs. In high school, I was torn between game development and a traditional career with game development being less recognized as a viable career in India at that time. I chose the safer path of computer science.
However, during my final year, amid the COVID pandemic, I realized I wasn’t truly happy. So, I took the leap and pursued a BSc in Game Design and Development, where I explored all aspects of game creation—coding, 3D art, animation—and eventually, I chose to specialize in level design as I’ve always been fascinated by level designers creating immersive environments that players can explore and feel completely absorbed in. After finishing my degree I also did mentorship under Shane Canning for Level Design in Games via CGMA.
I’ve been passionate about anime since I was two, starting with Pokémon, and later shows like Doraemon and Shin-chan shaped my childhood. Among all anime, Clannad After Story is my absolute favorite. I also developed a love for reading, diving into light novels & manga. My favorite manga is Kingdom.
Gaming has been a part of my life since I was three when I got my first computer loaded with titles like Duke Nukem, Call of Duty, and JRPGs. My gaming tastes evolved from sports and racing games to single-player experiences, with Nier Automata being my all-time favorite. I’m especially drawn to games with strong, emotional stories, meanwhile, titles like Dark Souls and Sekiro inspired my passion for intricate level design.
Growing up near the famous Mahabodhi Temple, I was fascinated by its traditions and visitors, which sparked my interest in Eastern culture. Anime deepened my curiosity, eventually leading me to explore Japanese culture and start learning the language. After trying various sources, and realizing I needed a person to guide me, I began learning with my tutor, Reiko-san, in 2024.
I lived in the Netherlands for my computer science course. Even though I eventually shifted to game design, I’m grateful for the experience of living abroad. It taught me independence and helped me grow as a person.
In the end, I’m proud of my unconventional journey. It’s shaped who I am and motivated me to pursue what I love. Thanks for reading about me—I hope you have an amazing day!
